About Me
When I'm not working, I'm usually...
-
Spending time with my family. My husband and I have two school-aged children. My favorite things to do with them are biking, reading, traveling, baking, and laughing heartlessly — heartlessly! — as I make them do their chores.
-
Working with kids locally to kindle their interest in technology. I run a twice-monthly tech hangout, free and open to the public, where kids can meet others who share their enthusiasm for programming, making, and using technology. I also teach introductory programming classes at my older son's school. I appreciate the way these volunteer efforts connect me to the community, and enjoy giving kids the space to explore their interests.

Making things — all kinds of things. I'm an accomplished quilter and enjoy working with textiles; aside from that, I dabble in all sorts of creative pursuits. My most recent exploration is in pop-up cards and paper engineering. I find a meditative pleasure in the precision the work demands.

Running. I'm a slow, reluctant runner, especially as winter approaches, but although I may be grumbling as I lace up my shoes in the morning, I'm never sorry I did.
